Moonlight Walk On Volcano

I approach each painting according to how I feel and also my prior experiences.
This style of of painting was inspired by a former teacher of mine, Louis Pohl,
a gifted artist in Hawaii.

"Moonlight Walk on Volcano" is a work I was inspired to do after visiting the Volcano
National Park several years ago. I walked on an old lava flow that led to a cliff
with a beach below. It was very dark that night. The only light to be had was
the glow of a beautiful full moon and the stars. Except for the waves crashing below,
it was extremely quiet. In the distance, I could see lava entering the sea with
steam billowing around it.

It was the most romantic evening one could experience in nature. "Moonlight Walk on Volcano"
is the visual essence of what I felt that memorable evening.
